How Can You Support Community Reach Center?Community Reach Center Clients Enjoy Bountiful Holiday!
Community Reach Center witnessed a significant increase in demand for mental health services in 2009. Holidays can be an extremely stressful time for those in our community who are living with mood disorders or other mental illnesses, especially with the additional stress brought on by unemployment and loss of income.
MetroNorth News and The Denver Post both ran an appeal for gifts for Community Reach Center in December, and the generous response from the community was incredible. Throughout the month of December, the bright spirit of the holidays poured through the doors of Community Reach Center to reach those most in need of assistance. For the fourth consecutive year, the staff of Vibra Hospital in Thornton coordinated a toy drive for the Center’s Day Treatment Program, fulfilling the gift wishes of all 18 students in the Program. King Soopers located at 136th and Colorado Boulevard once again hosted the Sharing Tree to collect gifts for the children served by the Northglenn Outpatient Services Team. Members of the Westminster Rotary Club donated $800 to sponsor the Center’s annual holiday party for adult clients, and Westminster Optimist Club donated 100 Christmas stockings. The Ladies 9-Hole Golf Association at The Ranch Country Club sponsored seven entire families and three individual clients of Community Reach Center. They and other club members donated new clothing, toys, gift cards, and more than $400 in cash. Adams Alliance for the Mentally Ill donated $300 worth of McDonald gift cards. The Adams County League of Women Voters delivered nearly 200 Christmas stockings and stuffers. Countless others delivered cash, new or gently used clothing for infants, children, teens and adults, hand-knitted caps and scarves, as well as toys, games and books that were given as holiday gifts to our clients in need.
The overwhelming support from the Adams County community has sustained Community Reach Center for more than 50 years. Generous donations such as we witnessed this holiday season are testimony to how much this special Adams County community is willing to reach out to help their neighbors in need. On behalf of the 10,000 clients that Community Reach Center served this past year, as well as the staff and Board of Directors, we are sincerely grateful for your generosity. We wish you all good health and prosperity in 2010.
