Mental Health IS Health!
Community Reach Center is a proud supporter of the Rocky Mountain PBS campaign, "Mental Health IS Health!" View the campaign's current Public Service Announcement featuring Colorado's First Lady, Jeanne Ritter. Family to Family Classes begin September 14th!
Community Reach Center is now accepting registration for the Fall session of 'Family-to-Family' classes. The classes are free and run for 12 weeks beginning September 14th, from 6:30-9:00pm, at 11285 Highline Drive in Northglenn. ‘Family-to-Family’ is intended only for family members and significant others who care for individuals diagnosed serious mental illness. Each participant will receive a notebook containing useful resources and information. The classes will be taught by Sheryl Bain, Community Reach Center board member and Vice-President of NAMI of Adams County. Classes follow a prescribed curriculum that covers basic information on major mental illnesses, as well as coping skills, basic medication information, listening and communication techniques, problem solving skills, recovery and rehabilitation and self-care for family members and caregivers. The classes also give family members a chance to talk about their challenges and triumphs related to caring for a family member with major mental illness. This is not a therapy group, but listening and sharing experiences with other family members is an essential aspect of the classes. Interested participants must first be interviewed by the instructor, either on the phone, or in person by September 7th. After September 7th, a waiting list will be started for the next round of classes. Contact Sheryl Bain at 303-229-9211 as soon as possible to schedule an interview.
