People living with serious mental illness often feel powerless over their illness, and believe that however they feel once their symptoms are stabilized with medication is the best that they can hope to feel.  Unfortunately, many psychotropic drug therapies can cause chronic fatigue and weght gain.  But there's good news!  By incorporating wellness strategies into their daily routine, our clients experience reduced symptom severity, improved mood,  increased self-esteem, and broaden their support system.The Wellness Program is a promising and cost-effective adjunctive therapy to our clients' traditional treatment plans. 

 

Weekly Wellness Groups are offered at various Community Reach locations. Clients learn wellness skills in three primary areas:

  • Activities, such as walking, Laughter Yoga, Tai Chi, nutrition instruction and personal affirmations designed to boost self-esteem.
  • Motivation and behavioral change, whereby participants identify needs and then set goals for achieving and maintaining personal change for a lfietime.
  • Coping Skills and symptoms management tools that support the participants' ability to consistently access and practice their wellness skills.
